细水长流 holds an important place in Singapore's music history, being one of the, if not the most, renowned Xinyao songs, locally composed pieces sung from the corridors of HDB flats from almost half a century ago, to the delight of many Singaporean listeners. It marked a renewal, a revival of local Singaporean Mandarin music for the people. 细水长流 speaks of the depth of close friendship. Liang remarkably uses a running stream of water as a metaphor of the passage of time flowing by. This arrangement was scored during Singapore's Bicenten-nial Year (2019) by our conductor, Mr Nelson Kwei.
