One of Taiwan's most treasured albums is Teresa Teng's 1983 release, 'Serene Feelings,' featuring 12 tracks inspired by ancient Chinese poetry. This album includes our all-time favorite song, 'How Much Sorrow' (几多愁), better known in Chinese poetry and history as 'Yu Mei Ren' (虞美人-春花秋月何时了).

Written by Li Yu, the final emperor of the Tang Dynasty during the Five Southern Dynasties, the verse expresses Li's longing for his lost country—a sentiment for which he ultimately lost his life.
