About This Release:
The fifth instalment of the Allo Love series sees our up-and-coming resident DJ, radio producer and presenter, chef de cuisine and young man about town, Neil Bopperson, take the helm and give us something of an insight into what makes him tick.Having cut his teeth DJing in Sheffield, he then plied his trade in Seville, Lisbon, Manchester and finally East London where he now curates, produces and presents radio shows for Meat Transmission and Paris' Le Mellotron radio station, as well as producing our monthly Wah Wah radio show. In the clubs Bopperson is something of a party starter, challenging the crowd to keep up with his energy and eclectic taste.
And what great taste it has proved to be - Neil has pulled some very tasty morsels out of the hat for this compilation, including as it does music from Canadian wonder kid Jesse Futerman, Italian beat-mongers Turbojazz and erstwhile Resonator, Bunty. There's more than a hint of the Northern towns Bopperson frequented as a youth and the influences of the friends he's met along the way, as illustrated by contributions from Gideon Conn, Moth HiFi, Yields and Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra (signed to Neil's other day-time workplace - First Word Records).
We also gave this mutli-talented young chap free choice of the full Wah Wah 45s back catalogue. He came back at us with serious selections from The Gene Dudley Group, Dele Sosimi (remixed by Paper Tiger) and a sultry outing from Scrimshire, rounding off a perfectly pitched collection of music steeped in electronica, folk, dub, Afrobeat and downtempo goodness. Bon apetite!
