Jingpo People: Children of the Mountains, Singing with Their Blades
Nestled in the highlands, the Jingpo live where mountains echo with ten thousand songs.
Over 160,000 strong, with the vast majority in Yunnan’s Dehong Prefecture, they are known as "mountain dwellers"—of the Great Mountains, the Little Hills, the Tea Peaks.
The blade is their symbol—of identity, strength, and spirit. From martial arts to ritual dance, it carries the soul of a people.
Believing in the spirits of all things, the Jingpo celebrate Munao Zongge, their grandest festival, in honor of the supreme deity, Mudai.
Even today, tens of thousands gather, dancing to the same drumbeat—a living rhythm of history, faith, and song, binding the Jingpo people as one.
