Though recorded back in 1939 by the Xavier Cugat band, it wasn’t until early 1941 that his instrumental version of the Spanish tune began attracting significant attention. It was followed soon after by a number of new recordings with this English language lyric…Miller’s being the best-remembered and featuring singer Claire in her only ‘hit-record’ performance with the band.
