The deep-voiced Hooper is well-remembered for his decades as performer with the Welk organization. Neither this cover version of the top-5 Don Howard hit nor the one by the Four Knights (also posted) quite managed to reach the Billboard top-10 sales charts (they both peaked at #11), but each of them scored higher on the radio airplay listings, providing relief to some DJ’s who were happy to have alternatives to Howard’s lugubrious original.
