Description
Scott Joplin’s most well-known piano rag, this single was a track from the remarkably successful LP “Scott Joplin: The Red Back Book,” which spent 36 weeks on Billboard’s Pop LP chart and 19 months on the Classical LP chart (6 weeks at number-one). Of course, this was due to the 1973 Scott Joplin revival spurred by the current enthusiasm for the Oscar winning film “The Sting” and its memorable Marvin Hamlisch soundtrack of Joplin tunes.
Transferred from stereo 45 single Angel 3635 - Maple Leaf Rag (Scott Joplin) by New England Conservatory Ragtime Ensemble, conducted by Gunther Schuller, produced by George Sponhaltz
