Description
This video features backstage views of the floats behind the It's a Small World parade gate
Paint the Night is a nighttime parade presented in Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, and formerly at Hong Kong Disneyland in China. The parade originally debuted in Hong Kong Disneyland on September 11th 2014, and due to its immense popularity, a clone of the parade was built for Disneyland as part of Disneyland's 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration. The parade is sometimes called "the new electrical parade" being a reference to the original Main Street Electrical Parade, the first nighttime parade in a Disney Park. The Disneyland version of the parade debuted on May 22nd 2015 along with the rest of the 60th anniversary and ran until September 5th 2016, however it returned for the holiday season of 2016 and ran until January 10th 2017. In 2018, the parade was moved to Disney California Adventure Park as part of the Pixar Fest Celebration on April 12th 2018 and ran until November 7th 2018. Some of the floats had to be modified because of the Red Car Trolley's overhead wires, and the Frozen float was removed and replaced with an Incredibles Float. The Hong Kong version of the parade ran until January 25th 2020 when it closed along with the rest of Hong Kong Disneyland due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The parade has not returned there since, though the floats are in storage. The Disneyland version of the parade returned for the 70th anniversary of the Disneyland Resort on May 16th 2025. It is now presented in Disneyland Park, and has been returned mostly to its original form with the return of the Frozen float.
Some of the changes in the 2025 version compared to the 2015 & 2018 versions include:
1) A brand new lighting package, where all costumes and floats are synced together without any delays
2) The Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah lyrics from the Mickey and Friends finale unit was replaced with a modified version of the Celebrate Happy theme song, which is the official theme song of the 70th Anniversary celebration. This is because of Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah's connection to Song of the South, which is considered a stereotypical film released in 1946 (and is also the reason for the closure of Splash Mountain)
This video was filmed during the 1st performance of Paint the Night on August 8th 2025 at the It's a Small World Promenade (where the parade begins for the first performance) and includes the 15 minute announcement. Paint the Night is presented twice daily, currently at 8:45pm and 10:45pm in Disneyland Park.
