Description
Beer Can series #2: The fourth song in this series is one of my all-time favorite oldies. In 1965, the Toys recorded this song which is based on “Minuet in G Major” from J.S. Bach’s Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach. According to Wikipedia, the minuet is “often attributed to Bach himself” but “is now believed to have been written by Christian Petzold. Thanks for watching my second beer can series!
[C] How gentle is the [Em] rain
that [F] falls [G7] softly on the [C] mea[Am] dow
[Dm] Birds [G7] high up in the [C] trees
[Am] serenade the [G7] flowers
[C] with their [Am] melo[Dm]dies, [G7] oh
[C] See there beyond the [Em] hill
the [F] bright [G7] colors of the [C] rain[Am] bow
[Dm] Some [G7] magic from a[C]bove
[Am] made this day for [Dm] us
[G7] just to fall in [C] love [G7]
[C] Now I belong to [Em] you
from [F] this [G7] day until for[C]ev[Am] er
[Dm] Just [G7] love me tender[C]ly
[Am] and I’ll give to [G7] you
[C] every [Am] part of [Dm] me, [G7] oh
[C] Don’t ever make me [Em] cry
thru [F] long [G7] lonely nights
with[C]out [Am] love
[Dm] Be [G7] always true to [C] me
[Am] keep this day in [Dm] your
[G7] heart eternal[C]ly [G7]
[C] Someday we shall re[Em]turn
to [F] this [G7] place upon the [C] mea[Am]dow
[Dm] We’ll [G7] walk out in the [C] rain
[Am] hear the birds a[G7]bove
[C] singing [Am] once a[Dm]gain, [G7] oh
[C] You’ll hold me in your [Em] arms
and [F] say [G7] once again you [C] love [Am] me
[Dm] And [G7] if your love is [C] true
[Am] everything will [Dm] be
[G7] just as wonder[C] ful
