Description
"A Mother's Tears" is a song written by Erving Poole. His inspiration stemmed from a personal loss of his two nephews that were senselessly murdered in a double homicide. The song was written several years later after Erving spent many restless days and nights grieving over his family's great loss. His nephews, 19 and 20, were two very beautiful young men with big hearts and a bright future ahead of them. They were taken suddenly and pitilessly by altogether, 13 gunshot wounds. This murder turned Erving's family world upside down. In his search of a way to deal with the pain, and as a song-writer himself, he started writing. He wanted to express to his sister and brother of his nephews that he feels their pain and the broken hearts of mothers and families all over the world. "A Mother's Tears" is his message.
"A Mother's Tears" is more than a song; it's an anthem for strength, the spirit of truth and remembrance, and a message against violence. It acknowledges and salutes a mother's pain in the loss of her son or daughter to such tragedies as his own. The message captures the tears of anger, grief, heartache, and suffering; and the yearning for revenge and justice. The message is also magnified in a way to reach youths by encouraging them to be soldiers against violence by reversing the power they dedicated to the streets and channeling it within. It is also intended to reverse the desensitized minds of our society that have been robbed of our sensitivity toward violence.
