Description
Sung by Craig McAllister accompanied by his baritone ukulele.
This was the melody of "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief" that John Taylor learned in England and sang to Joseph Smith in Carthage Jail just before Joseph Smith was martyred. It was never written down until Ebenezer Beesley was working on a new hymn book in 1887 and asked John Taylor to sing it to him. Ebenezer wrote it down in his notebook then revised the melody for the new hymn book. It is that melody that is in our hymn book today. Ebenezer's notebook was not found until 2008 when the melody was first published by Jeffrey N. Walker.
