For 12 years we’ve had the gift of hearing this beautiful track. “Ahsoka’s Theme” is brilliantly crafted from the talents of Kevin Kiner, the lead composer of Dave Filoni’s animated Clone Wars series. This video is a look back through the years, at some of its most iconic appearances throughout Star Wars canon.

Kiner’s talents of blending old & new in to the future of Star Wars soundtracks, is too often overlooked. This is why, upon last week’s Mandalorian episode, titled: “The Jedi”, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the inclusion of one of his most striking scores alongside one of our most beloved characters. Ahsoka’s theme is arguably just as much a part of her now, as are her dual lightsabers. And stands amongst the themes of the Star Wars legends, like Leia, Yoda, & Luke Skywalker. Whether you recognize it or not, the music, like Williams’ original score through the years, plays such a critical element in bringing the character to life.

My gratitude goes out to Ludwig Göransson for bringing this score into live action & paying homage to Kiner’s work. That final moment of Ahsoka watching Grogu & Din’s departure sent chills through me & brought a tear to my eye. Hearing that score reimagines in live action truly made me recognize how much the character of Ahsoka has grown through the years, as well as how much we’ve all grown alongside her as fans.

Thank you so much to Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, Ashley Eckstein, Rosario Dawson, & so many more for bringing our childhood to life. It’s the kind of hope & escape so desperately needed in these times.
