Description
Lead singer Layne Staley of the popular grunge band Alice in Chains, was known for his battle with heroin addiction. His final years were characterized by a deeper decline into drug-related chaos, and it is said that the singer weighed barely 86 pounds when he passed away. The last person to see him alive was his former bassist Mike Starr. As the story goes, the two argued about Layne’s refusal to seek serious help. As Mike was leaving, Layne could be heard saying “Don’t leave me like this.” These were the last words of Layne Staley. He died April 5th, 2002.
