We sang this in the school choir and gospel choir. i know it's supposedly sung at funerals a lot, but i only learned today that it was written by John Newman when he landed safely in Donegal, Ireland after being caught in a terrible storm at sea and that the song reflected his return to faith and the start of his conversion to Christianity.
