Please enjoy various facial expressions and well-depicted characters on each mask. You may be amazed with its dynamic and expressive details. The Korean traditional mask dance, Talchum, has one kind of performances but a unique and culturally rich structure. It has a long history, about 2000 years and its forms have developed differently in all provinces.

One of the famous mask dances is Bongsan Talchum but there are many more dances, Kangryung, Eunyul, 5Clowns.....

I presented the Ancient Masks of the world (https://youtu.be/o2lUN2bcPj4) before but I have wanted to add this unexampled styles of the masks. This Talchum performance can be shown in Kpop and Kdrama. Or K-show like Squid Game and the Masked singer get the idea from Mask dances, using Masks. I am writing here a couple of BTS examples. BTS Jungkook danced one part of Talchum. You can also feel the Korean traditional rhythm in their song, Idol.

I like this Talchum because it includes the high quality of artistry, satire, and frank expression such as peasants' difficult life and romantic relationships. Their honest expressions against the the hypocricy of the noble is amazing even when they had strict and distinct social classes.

The use of artistic masks which convey each personality effectively well, helps audience immersed in the show. This mask dance is not just a dance but a play more like a musical /light opera, incorporating all forms of art, music, dance. The design of masks are essential part of this performance..
