Title: Gov′t, ruling party announce new measures to prevent child abuse
Our top story this afternoon...
Public outrage over a recent case of child abuse at a daycare center in Incheon is intensifying.
With video footage of the abuse spreading like wildfire on the Internet,... and parents across the nation understandably concerned about the safety of their children, the government and ruling party have announced a series of measures aimed at protecting children.
Park Ji-won starts us off.
Childcare centers with one case of abuse in their records will be shut down... and the teachers and facility directors will be stripped of their childcare licenses.
This is just one of the measures... announced by the ruling Saenuri Party and the government on Friday afternoon... to prevent child abuse.
They also proposed making the installation of CCTV cameras compulsory at daycare centers nationwide.
The announcement was made following an emergency meeting held Friday at a municipal childcare information center in western Seoul... and presided over by ruling Saenuri Party leader Kim Moo-sung.
Minister of Health and Welfare Moon Hyung-pyo attended the meeting as the government′s representative.
The main opposition New Politics Alliance for Democracy Party also launched a task force on the issue,... vowing to advocate for improvements in the nation′s childcare-related laws at the next parliamentary session in February.
The number of childcare centers in Korea has skyrocketed over the years,.. from some five thousand in early 1990s,... to over 43-thousand last year.
Although the government provides the centers... with some five-point-five billion U.S. dollars annually,... only 10 percent are public facilities.
The rest are private centers... believed to be lacking proper supervision.
Meanwhile, the number of cases of abuse at both public and private facilities has more than doubled in recent years,... from one-hundred in 2010... to over two-hundred-and-thirty in 2013.
There are currently more than one-point-four million infants and children being taken care of at the nation′s childcare centers.

Title: As S. Korea seeks to resume family reunions, N. Korea protests upcoming military exercises
There′s a tug of war going on between the two Koreas,... dragging on the momentum for dialogue.
The South wants to hold a round of reunions for war-separated families,... while the North is protesting the upcoming joint military drills between Seoul and Washington.
Hwang Sung-hee reports.
A fundamental solution for war-separated families will be South Korea′s top priority if it engages in talks with North Korea.
The South Korean government wants to make reunions regular and routine for hundreds of families that lost contact during the Korean War six decades ago.
Seoul has said it′s willing to address issues of North Korea′s
