Description
Here's another great song with Tulsa's legendary drummer Jim Karstein at the drum kit. Jim played with some of Tulsa's most successful musicians like Leon Russell, David Gates and JJ Cale, as far back as the late 50s. This song is by Cheech Y Chong (Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong), the most famous comedic duo who were openly pot smokers. From their 1973 album Los Cochinos, here is "Basketball Jones featuring Tyrone Shoelaces," which was on a single that reached #15 on the Billboard charts. It was recorded live at A&M Studios in Los Angeles with Rap Brown Jr. H.S. Band, a stellar line up of incredible musicians, as well as backing singers. Cheech did the lead voice of Tyrone Shoelaces.
