Description
At the end of our Deepening retreat at the White Lotus Center in Santa Barbara, we had a fire ceremony, and at the end of the fire ceremony, Patrick Ko taught some of us this beautiful song from the Amis tribe of his native Taiwan. The Amis people's music became famous when the band Enigma used one of their chants in their song "Return to Innocence," written in 1994 and used in television ads to promote the 1996 Summer Olympics. It's interesting to note that people thought the chant sampled in the Enigma song was Native American. We also thought the song we sang sounds very Native American.
What can we learn from this?
