I discovered a small cassette among 60 boxes of uncatalogued Dan Morgenstern memorabilia at the Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers University. I was researching the Morgenstern materials in my role as a Research Fellow for the Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers University.

“I was there for 10 days in January 2020, just before Covid broke out, and everything shut down. They gave me access to NEA Jazz Master Dan Morgenstern’s uncatalogued memorabilia,” Hehmsoth said. “There was this cassette. All it said was "Cosby". I thought, Why is this in this box? After playing a portion of it, I knew I had to make a copy.”
Bill Cosby was great friends with Miles Davis. He recounts his love of Miles's jazz as a teenager, and his evolving friendship. This recording was made in 1986.
