Description
From her 1979 LP 'The Glow' comes a cover of the Isaac Hayes/David Porter composition 'I thank you' first recorded by Sam and Dave a decade before. ZZ Top also charted with the track the same year Bonnie recorded it. I prefer Ms Raitt's version to all the others. John Farnham and Tom Jones have also memorialised the song in more recent years. 'The Glow' was a solid outing for Bonnie at the end of a decade that saw her record 7 albums and establish herself as a kick ass musician, but not yet as a pop icon. That would still take another decade, but for me the 1982 LP 'Green Light' and its follow up 'Nine Lives' would have me a dedicated follower for life. That voice, so textured so compelling as well as that guitar brilliance. The only song to cause any stirring on the charts from this '79 set was 'You gonna get what's coming' in early 1980.
