The slave-owners were well aware of the powerful communicative and unifying force that the drums could unleash (Introduction "Give The Drummer Some", in the book: The Life And Music of James Brown, written by RJ Smith). There is truly something magical about syncopated and interlocking rhythms. I'd say that The Funk is like the true vision of the world, with different rhythms and different people working together to create something truly amazing...
