Enslaved Africans in Brazil developed capoeira, and the art form has evolved and survived through the generations. While there are many capoeira schools, there are three main lineages: Angola, which was led by Mestre (Master) Pastinha; Regional, which was created by Mestre Bimba; and ContemporΓ’nea, which is a mix of the two.
