An evening dedicated to Fado, the most emblematic musical expression of Portugal.

As part of the celebrations for the Day of Portugal, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities, the Embassy of Portugal in Athens had the pleasure of presenting an event dedicated to the musical tradition of Fado, which has been recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

In this unique concert, three talented Greek artists took to the stage to honour the soul and saudade of Portuguese Fado—a musical tradition that continues to move audiences around the world. Through their personal interpretation, they brought to life classic pieces from the Portuguese repertoire, paying special tribute to composer Carlos Paredes, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth, and highlighting the timeless and universal nature of Portuguese culture.

The concert took place at the National Gallery, a venue of particular cultural and artistic significance for the city of Athens, further strengthening the bonds of friendship between Greece and Portugal.

Μια βραδιά αφιερωμένη στο Fado, την πιο εμβληματική μουσική έκφραση της Πορτογαλίας.

Στο πλαίσιο των εορτασμών για την Ημέρα της Πορτογαλίας, του ποιητή Καμόες και των Πορτογαλικών Κοινοτήτων, η Πρεσβεία της Πορτογαλίας στην Αθήνα είχε την χαρά να παρουσιάσει την εκδήλωση αφιερωμένη στην μουσική παράδοση των Fado, που έχει αναγνωριστεί από την UNESCO ως Άυλη Πολιτιστική Κληρονομιά της Ανθρωπότητας.

Σε αυτή τη μοναδική συναυλία, τρεις ταλαντούχες Ελληνίδες καλλιτέχνιδες ανέβηκαν στη σκηνή για να τιμήσουν την ψυχή και τη saudade του πορτογαλικού φάντο, μια μουσική παράδοση που συνεχίζει να συγκινεί το κοινό σε όλο τον κόσμο. Μέσα από την προσωπική τους ανάγνωση, ζωντάνεψαν κλασικά κομμάτια του πορτογαλικού ρεπερτορίου, αποτίοντας ειδικό φόρο τιμής στον συνθέτη Carlos Paredes, στο πλαίσιο του εορτασμού της εκατονταετηρίδας από τη γέννησή του και αναδεικνύοντας την διαχρονικότητα και την οικουμενικότητα του πορτογαλικού πολιτισμού.

Η συναυλία πραγματοποιήθηκε στην Εθνική Πινακοθήκη, έναν χώρο με ιδιαίτερη πολιτιστική και καλλιτεχνική σημασία για την πόλη των Αθηνών, ενισχύοντας ακόμη περισσότερο τους δεσμούς φιλίας μεταξύ της Ελλάδας και της Πορτογαλίας.
