Description
This Christmas and New Year carol is based on a Ukrainian folksong, and was originally arranged for choir by Mykola Leontovich (1877-1921). The folksong, titled Shchedryk (The Little Swallow) was traditionally sung in January to welcome in the New Year and the coming of Spring. It later became associated with Christmas, had new words written for it, and became popular in many different forms.
