From Steve Perry - “I really love how this video turned out. The colors and geometric shapes are wonderful once again. When Patrick and I discussed how to treat this video I mentioned Art Deco being an important influence of mine. Even though the inspiration of the song kind of spun out of WW2, as evidenced by the Andrew sisters type background vocals, I kind of see the visual influences from the late 20’s and early 30’s, when Swing is transitioning into being, birthed as it was out of hot jazz. This was the time of Deco and classical music influences leaking into Jazz. Sophistication and high fashion in this era mix with uptown Harlem Renaissance club life in a whimsical, geometric way as depicted in films of the times such as Ernst Lubitschs' Design For Living and Busby Berkeleys’ Footlight Parade or Gold Diggers of 1933. I wish I could’ve walked the streets of NY back then.”
