My Motherland is a popular patriotic song perfoemed by famous singer Guo Lanying with lyrics written by Qiao Yu and music composed by Liu Chi. It is also an episode of the movie "Battle on Shangganling Mountain". Its inspirational melody seemingly could bring the listeners back to the old time, to the battle and into the movie.
In Mr. Liu Wenjin's adaption, the music is melodious and graceful with rich local characteristic tones, and has its own distinct style. His version of My Motherland not only applies the melody of the original version, but also adds the Hebei folk tune Song of Sifting for Gold to enrich thestructure.
Liu Wenjin was a well-known contemporary Chinese composer and conductor. He had served as the Director and Artistic Director of China National Traditional Orchestra, President and Artistic Consultant of China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater and so on. Over half a century, Liu Wenjin had created so many national music woks and made great contributions to the national music world.
