Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Daniel Salinas is a conductor, pianist, arranger and producer. He worked with the Jovem Guarda movement in the 60's and created orchestral, soul/jazz-tinged, electronic versions of international standards and reinterpretations of brazilian popular classics in the 1970s. Nostalgia Eletrônica Orchestra was a project undertaken in the early 1970s by him. The idea was to make re-readings of great classics of the traditional Brazilian music, such as serestas and chorinhos, through a modern and experimental style. The range of influences goes from rock to soul, jazz to dance, brega to classic, with many keyboards moogs, synthesizers and thermals.
