Description

“Hold Me Tight" is an older McCartney number written sometime in 1961. Although Paul wrote most of the song himself, he has stated it was still a collaborative effort between him and John.

Paul was fairly dismissive of the track, saying, “Hold Me Tight was a failed attempt at a single which then became an acceptable album filler.” John added, “...It was Paul's. Maybe I stuck some bits in there, I don't remember. It was a pretty poor song and I was never really interested in it either way."

The song was first attempted during the Please Please Me session on February 11, 1963. Although 13 takes were recorded, the song was ultimately shelved during the session.

Seven months later, on September 12, the song was resurrected for their next album, "With The Beatles". The decision was made to start fresh, with the take numbers beginning at 20—rounded up from the 13 takes done earlier that year. Four takes were recorded, with take 24 becoming the basis for overdubs. These overdubs included two takes of handclaps along with additional backing vocals. After that, the song was completed.

I'm fairly happy with how these isolations turned out especially the bass isolation. This'll probably be the last With The Beatles video for a little while as I plan to one redo older isolation videos and do more middle and late era Beatle songs.
