Description
The song "Wyjazd na wojnę" ("Departure to the War") was composed by Polish and Belarusian composer Stanisław Moniuszko, with lyrics taken from the first volume of "Piosenki wieśniacze znad Niemna i Dźwiny" ("Peasant Songs from the Neman and Dvina"), a collection of folk songs compiled by Belarusian and Polish ethnographer Jan Czeczot in 1837. Moniuszko incorporated this folk-inspired text into his Fifth Home Songbook (Piąty Śpiewnik domowy) published in 1858.
This version of the song is based on the Belarusian translation by Uładzimir Marchel.
