Description
Another LoloYodel two-video angle remix (see credits below).
VIDEOS : with my habitual gratitude and thanks for all whose who previously filmed, produced and shared the originals.
Video One : Lazy Cow Audience Tripod Video (Captured by Ray B, Synch/Authored by BigWuRock) Master: JVC Single Tube Camera ~ 1st Gen VHS, Nak 300 Shotguns ~ ? Decks ~ 8mm Deck ~ 8mm Master ...
Left of stage, DARK but stable. I increased the color contrast by 10 and reduced the red gain by 20.
This video probably has a couple of generations between ...
Video Two : (Rasensteine) Master 8mm PAL Tape : Sony Camcorder 75E ~ Hama Converter 2x ...
Back of Floor & floor level : colorful, close, intimate but OFTEN SHAKY !
I reduced the color-saturation by 100 to try and find better visual harmony with the darker "Lazy Cow" video.
Transfered original mp4 files to MPG (output) with mped1 video codec) otherwise it won't "stick" correctly in editing within Pinnacle
AUDIO: Soundboard from the Lazy Cow video with thanks and gratitude (lineage : DSBD ~ CD ~ EAC ~ SHN (shnid=22315), Darryl Hinko).
LoloYodel Notes :
These 1990 European shows were some of the The Best of The Grateful Dead !
Granted "amateur" videos but to have two video angles, with such visual diversity, is truely an addition to our viewing and auditive pleasure. Forget color resolution and any other puritanical bull---t, enjoy this !
7 months after the truly spectacular and sonically unique East-Coast Spring 1990 Tour (Landover, Albany, Nassau ...), but just 3 months after the tragic death of the beloved keyboardist Brent Mydland (July 26th), The Grateful Dead embarked on what became their very strong European Tour, their 1st in 9 years (1981) which started in Sweden on October 13th (jet lag and all ...), then Germany where it begins to pick up, then France ... ! The Tour ended on November 1st at Wembley, London UK.
All of these European shows, beyond their European flavour, were unique in that they were in relatively small 4000-5000 seat venues, versus the average 40000+ seat coliseums, if not stadiums, that the Dead were beginning to play in the USA. And I'm sure that the Grateful Dead were not oblivious to that "intimacy".
Vince Welnick and Bruce Hornsby are there to replace Mydland on keyboards ...
PS : also thanks to Gerry & Stewart Loew for brief outakes of their fine "In Our Eyes - European Deadhead Odyssey 1990" edited in at the beginning of each show !
