Did you know that it took one year to film this scene from The Shining? It only took three takes for them to get the perfect shot of the blood spilling out of the elevator, which normally wouldn’t be noteworthy, except that each take took a whopping nine days to get set up! Kubrik said that he didn’t like the shot because the blood “didn’t look like blood”. With how long it took for the shot to be set up and the rigorous schedule for the rest of the film, it took the crew approximately a year to get the shot that Kubrick liked.
