"Do You Want to Dance", written and recorded by Bobby Freeman in 1958, reached the #5 spot on the U.S. Billboard Top 100 Sides pop chart, and #2 on the Billboard R&B chart. The song was covered later by other well-known artists but none reaching any higher. Feeman his music career at the age of fourteen by joining a doo-wop group called the Romancers playing at high school hops and an occasional club date. The band disbanded, and Freeman formed a group called the West Coast Vocaleers that also split up causing him to go solo taking with him a drum-playing friend. From there, he secured a recording contract with a record company, and later, became a record producer himself.
