Description
The Eagles are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1971. Founded by Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner, the group became one of the most successful and influential bands of the 1970s.
The band is best known for their smooth harmonies, country-rock blend, and classic songwriting, combining elements of rock, country, and folk. Over the years, they have sold over 200 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling bands in history.
Their breakthrough came with albums like "Desperado" (1973) and "On the Border" (1974), but their commercial peak arrived with "Hotel California" (1976), featuring the iconic title track and hits like "New Kid in Town" and "Life in the Fast Lane". The song "Hotel California" is widely considered one of the greatest rock songs of all time, noted for its mystical lyrics and the legendary dual guitar solo by Don Felder and Joe Walsh.
After internal conflicts and lineup changes — including the replacement of Leadon with Joe Walsh and Meisner with Timothy B. Schmit — the band broke up in 1980, but reunited in 1994 for the "Hell Freezes Over" tour and live album. Since then, they’ve continued to tour with various lineups, despite the passing of Glenn Frey in 2016.
Band: Bernie Leadon , Randy Meisner, Don Henley, Glenn Frey
Today, the Eagles remain a symbol of 1970s American rock and are revered for their musicianship, vocal harmonies, and unforgettable songs. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
