"Singing a Folk Song to the Party" is a piece composed by lyricist Yao Xiaozhou and songwriter Zhu Jian’er. It was first sung in 1963 by Ren Guizhen, and later by Hu Songhua as an interlude to feature film "Lei Feng". It became ubiquitous to all after its performance by Tibetan singer Tseitain Zhoima in the music and dance epic "The East Is Red".
