A great New Year’s Eve feel to this wonderful reminder of how talented these three gentlemen were. Frank and Sammy have great back and forth vocals and banter on this one. The disc was released with “Sam’s Song” as the b-side, performed by Sammy and Dean Martin with Frank Sinatra conducting the orchestra.
The song first appeared in 1927 but this version clearly had some updated lyrics, such as “We’re closer than Bobby is to JFK”. The disc did well chart wise too; reaching #64 in the US and #20 in the UK. It reappeared in the UK charts in February, 1963 and reached #47 on that occasion.
