Genesis - Chapter 37 Summary :
In genesis chapter 37, Jacob is living in canaan. His Son joseph, who is 17 years old, is tending to the flock with his brothers. Jacob loves Joseph the most because he is the Son of his old age and gives him a coat of many colors.This causes joseph's brothers to hate him. Joseph has two dreams where his brothers and parents bow down to him, which angers his brothers even more. Jacob scolds Joseph for his dreams.
Joseph's brothers go to Shechem to feed their father's flock, and Jacob sends Joseph to check on them. Along the way, Joseph is found by a Man who tells him his brothers have gone to dothan. When Joseph arrives, his brothers see him and plan to kill him.
However, Reuben convinces them not to, so instead, they throw him into a pit. Later, a group of Ishmaelites pass by, and joseph's brothers decide to sell him to them. They dip joseph's coat in blood to make it look like he was killed by an animal and bring it back to jacob, who believes Joseph is dead.
The Ishmaelites sell Joseph to potiphar, an officer of pharaoh's, in egypt.
