"Goddess of the Mountain" is the name of a Chapter from an ancient Chinese book of myths and legends that goes by the title "Chu Songs - The Nine Verses", dating back about 400 B.C. This chapter depicts a rather melancholic story of a goddess' promised meeting with her lover that was not meant to be. In the poem, the goddess expresses her deep yearning for her lover through her inner monologue.
