Hangeul Festa 2025 | Song lyrics – Nuri Hangeul Transcription of a Colombian Folk Song

For this challenge, I chose "La Piragua", a traditional Colombian song by José Barros. It’s a beloved piece that evokes the river life and cultural memory of Colombia’s Caribbean region
Transcribing it using the Nuri Hangeul system was a unique challenge. As a Spanish speaker, I aimed to preserve the original sounds by using extended Hangul characters that reflect Spanish phonetics, while staying true to the principles of Hunminjeongeum.
This project connects two worlds—Colombian folklore and ancient Korean script—showing how music and writing can bridge cultures across time and space.
