Another beautiful song that helped to define me. 'Cats In The Cradle' was released in 1974 and for us in Australia it entered the charts in the December of that year where it made it to #6 and spending 5 months in the 'Hit Parade' and it resonated immediately with this then 10 year old boy. My own turbulent and dysfunctional relationship with my own father was not lost on me, even at such a tender age. Harry's ability to weave a sublime pop song with such an exquisite story is what made him such a special artist. Tragically Harry was killed in a car accident in 1981 at just 38 years of age. One of the world's most talented singer/songwriters was lost. In October 2020 a documentary on his life and passions was released 'Harry Chapin: When In Doubt Do Something'. The clip here isn't quite the same performance or speed of the mp3 so re-editing was tricky but i wanted to do more than just show pictures of Harry. 'Cats In The Cradle' 46 years on is still an immensely enjoyable and quality recording,. Timeless!
