Hello, it's been a while.

I had intended for this video to be uploaded in time for Suicide Awareness Month, AKA in September, but things have been a bit hectic and so all I can do is apologize for the delay.

This time I've re-animated 'Inochi ni Kirawareteiru' (命に嫌われている), AKA Hated by Life, with my own personal translation of the original by Kanzaki Iori. Though a classic, it's an incredibly young song - released in August 2017, far younger than most.

I initially wanted to translate ShiinamotaP's 'Sayonara Minasan', but thought better of it, since it might detract from others looking to discover his more lighthearted work. It is always better to have lived apart from your death, and so this was my decision.

Hello, quick notes this time.

What Kanzaki means in the line "悲しくなるならそれでもいいならずっと一人で笑えよ" is clearer through the translation "If you don't give a fuck about anything but living, even if it means being unhappy, then go ahead and laugh alone all you want." That being said, I chose the lines in the video since they suited the animation and also better suited the lashing out of the persona.

One other note: the title. Most translators have chosen to translate this song's title as 'Hated by Life Itself' - it gives the title a nice punchy quality, but in reading it I begin to feel anew that this punchiness has less to do with it being an elegant translation than it is just standard nomenclature at this point. 'Hated by Life' retains every implication of the title, while still avoiding the specific and individual, which suits this song just fine, because all are hated by life, but only in a sort of dispassionate way, an unmalicious antipathy that forms the human condition.
