Highland Cathedral is a well known and widely used tune within Scottish Bagpipe tradition. The song is used in Scottish ceremonies and events, including weddings, and has even been proposed as the new Scottish national anthem.
Most people don’t know that it has been written by two German composers, Ulrich Roever and Michael Korb, for a German version of the “Highland Games”, a contest in traditional Scottish sports. In this arrangement, the snare drum part may be doubled, while the drum kit part is optional.
