This will be a very normal comments section! Opinions about the film aside, one of the surprising additions in the score for the remake is a new leitmotif, which until it gets an official name I'm dubbing the Homeward motif. It begins almost identically to the main theme, but the second phrase changes up some of the latter notes and by extent the course of the melody. It's almost a hymn or lullaby, and since I won't be seeing the remake I don't know what it's significance could be. A theme for home, for family, for finding your belonging? Regardless, Powell's choral work for this theme, mainly in You Are My Homeward, is astounding, and I'm glad he was able to add something fresh and worthwhile to his old score.
