Description
In summer 1959 the Jazz Messengers were at a Canadian festival but had no tenor player as Hank Mobley had gone. After Art Blakey had finished playing a tune Lee Morgan saw Wayne Shorter from the bandstand and came to him after the set asking him if he wanted to play with the Jazz Messengers.
Wayne Shorter stayed for four years and eventually becoming musical director and composing pieces for the band.
