Description
COLLECTIVE SINGING AS PART OF UNESCO'S INTANGIBLE HERITAGE with Silja Fischer, Jānis Ozols, Ieva Krivickaite | 29 March 2023
At first, Silja Fischer (International Music Council) introduces us to the UNESCO definition and perspectives on intangible cultural heritage and presents some examples from the world of collective singing.
In the second part, Jānis Ozols (Latvian Song Celebration) talks about the Song Celebrations of three Baltic States. Did you know that the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian Singing celebrations have been declared UNESCO Intangible Heritage?
To conclude, Ieva Krivickaite (Lithuanian National Culture Centre) introduces the Lithuanian Song Celebration, which will be marking its 100th anniversary in 2024. We take a look at what constitutes the Celebration, learn about the relationship between the Celebration and Lithuania's Independence, and find out what is planned for 2024.
This online event was organised in the frame of IGNITE, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
