Listen in as clarinetist and improviser Angel Bat Dawid presents some recent musical pieces and shares her thoughts about the practice of improvisation. Dawid’s work draws from free jazz, gospel, and hip-hop and explores themes of black resistance and self-care. This In Progress was filmed at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago on January 21, 2020, and was moderated by Tara Aisha Willis, Associate Curator.

In Progress is a series designed to give artists, thinkers, and curators a platform for developing new works and to give patrons a glimpse into the creative process. In Progress is organized by Interim Senior Curator January Parkos Arnall with the Performance and Public Practice team.
