Description
Koureloudes is a San Diego, California - area band that plays traditional and popular Greek music. Koureloudes (Κουρελούδες) are traditional Greek rugs, made of various vibrant hues that are hand-woven into a beautiful harmony. Our music is like these colorful rugs, as we meld our distinct musical backgrounds to weave together rich, vibrant melodies from different regions and time periods of Greece.
The members of the band are:
Artemis Spyridonidis: vocals
Dan Ziagos: accordion, guitar
Mary Marshall: defi (frame drum), koutalakia (spoons), toumbeleki (darabuka/doumbek)
Rowshan Dowlatabadi: accordina, flute, toumbeleki
Tamia Dowlatabadi: kanounaki (kanun/zither)
*** Koureloudes is pronounced koo-re-LOO-thes, where the "th" in the last syllable "thes" is like the "th" in "then".
