Isaac Albeniz (1869-1909) was a Catalan composer and pianist. Albeniz´s music has been popular among guitarists through transcriptions. Although Albeniz did not write any music for the guitar, many of his piano pieces were arranged for the instrument during his lifetime, mainly through the efforts of Francisco Tarrega and Miguel Llobet, with the blessing of the composer. In 1906, Llobet was invited to perform Albeniz´s Granada at a concert in Barcelona arranged by Albeniz. His beautifully melancholic composition, Mallorca op 202 is characterised by the rocking rhythm of a barcarolle (boat song) with a lively middle section.
