In su' be' fiori in sul la verde fronde
sotto novi arboretti spessi e lunghi
pasturella trovay che choglea funghi

Im panni bigi alçatal la ritonda
per un boschetto se ne giva sola
chiama'la a me per dirle una parola

Del grembo un fior che ell'avea le tolsi
si fu çentil, che ma' piu bel non colsi

Among beautiful flowers, surrounded in green foliage,
under young trees, thick and long,
a shepherdess I found was gathering mushrooms

within her apron, gray and homemade, raised at her waist.
Through a small wood she wandered alone.
I called her to me to have a word.

From her lap, a flower she had, I snatched away.
She was so obliging, that none more beautiful had I ever captured
