I heard Lang Lang playing the gorgeous jasmine flower as a piano solo (arr. by Schindler) a week or 2 ago, and I knew that I had to use this for my 'playing under the blossom trees piece'! Jasmine flower is based on the traditional Chinese folk song, and its melody is famously used in Puccini's opera Turandot. I've based my piano cover of this on the beautiful relaxing piano arrangement by Schindler and improvised some gorgeous blossomy arpeggio runs in the middle and ended with a triumphant revisit of the theme. Listen out for the chimes/traditional instrument tremolo sounds. And you may even spot a cool shadow of Patrice when I asked him to film around me to add some movement to the video. Filmed at our famous blossom avenue on the Harrogate stray. We count down the weeks and months to when they blossom and they are heavenly. Every year the boys and I have a picnic under the, invariably play a piano piece and cycle or walk under them many evenings until the sad day the trees confetti petals cry and float softly to the ground. I love them so much and I loved my super fast learning of this piece specially to celebrate them.
