Jay’s Audio Lab: A New Chapter – Moving, Upgrading, and Leveling Up High-End Audio
Welcome back to Jay’s Audio Lab. If you’ve been following me, you already know this will be my last set of reviews in this space. That’s right — this high-end audio room, my listening lab for the past seven years, is coming down.
Behind me, the acoustic treatments are coming off the walls, and the hi-fi gear is being packed away. Over the next 2–3 weeks, the heavy hitters — the Apex Monoblocks, Martin speakers, and TAD CR1TXs — will be dismantled and shipped out.
This is bittersweet. It’s hard to say goodbye to a room that’s been my creative hub, my testing ground, and my meeting place for manufacturers, industry friends, and audiophiles from around the world. But there’s a bigger plan — and you’ll be part of it.
Moving to a New State & Building Jay’s Audio Lab 2.0
My family and I are relocating to a brand-new state. For the first time, we’ll be leaving Florida behind. I’ve found a larger facility — a bigger canvas for two separate listening labs.
This will allow me to:
Produce higher-quality audiophile content
Use multiple camera angles for better production value
Showcase ultra high-end audio gear without the space limitations I had here
From bare drywall to fully treated, acoustically perfect rooms, I’ll be documenting the entire build-out. You’ll see every step: insulation, wiring, flooring decisions, and the grand opening.
How Jay’s Audio Lab Started
Jay’s Audio Lab began in a two-car garage, inspired by my wife’s suggestion to move my system out of the living room. Like Dell and Hewlett-Packard, great things started in a garage.
Originally, I was just a blogger documenting my amplifier journey. That passion evolved into exploring DACs, preamplification, and other high-end components, eventually moving to YouTube — my best decision ever.
The Reality of YouTube in the High-End Audio Space
I want to be fully transparent: YouTube alone doesn’t pay the bills. This niche is small, and content revenue is minimal compared to mainstream channels. My business model includes:
Buying and reselling used high-end audio equipment
Reviewing gear I’m passionate about before selling it
Using profits to fund future reviews and system upgrades
Before going full-time, I balanced corporate HR work with content creation, which caused burnout and forced me to choose one path. I took the leap into hi-fi full time, and I’ve never looked back.
Why I Focus on Ultra High-End Audio
My goal isn’t to review $3,500 speakers forever. I want Jay’s Audio Lab to be the Ferrari and Lamborghini of hi-fi — showcasing the most exclusive high-end audio equipment.
Over the years, I’ve built relationships with manufacturers who once closed their doors to me. Now, many ultra high-end brands are onboard because they see the value in presenting their products to a passionate, informed audience.
I’m also advocating for these brands to create entry-level models so more people can experience their quality without six-figure price tags.
The Road Ahead
Jay’s Audio Lab 2.0 will deliver:
Two fully equipped listening rooms
Higher production value and better sound demonstrations
Continued focus on top-tier audiophile systems
Educational and inspiring content for the hi-fi community
You’ve seen me grow from a garage blogger to a recognized voice in high-end audio. Now, you’ll see me take it to the next level.
Thank you for your continued support. Stay tuned — the next chapter starts now.
